Blakely Bering is a new artist featured at La Galleria. Blakely is a colorist and known for her intricate rich layers of oil on canvas. Ironically, we are often asked if her art work is made of sand, marble, or granite and it isn’t until one is standing directly in front of her work, that her technique is realized. Blakely uses primarily oil on panel and creates her own paint, which consists of powdered pigments, and crushed metals. Often she collaborates with her husband to produce acrylic, charcoal, pastel and oil pastel types of art. Blakely’s work on canvas tends to evict feelings of movement, which stem from her theatrical sense and her ability to create work that remains powerful from a distance.
